Border workers across Canada have begun work-to-rule action effective today, August 6th, 2021.

PSAC (Public Service Alliance of Canada) and the Customs and Immigration Union (CIU) represent approximately 8,500 border workers. Under the work-to-rule action, agents will only perform the minimum amount of work required by their contracts.

While the safety and security of our borders is maintained, the strike will slow down operations at border crossings, airports, commercial shipping ports, postal facilities and Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) offices.

Delays are to be expected.

This work-to-rule strike comes just days before Canada reopens its border to fully vaccinated U.S. visitors on Monday, August 9th.
