After several weeks of talks, Quebec’s Minister of Transport and Mobility, Geneviève Guilbault, made an important announcement on January 23.

As of April 30, 2023, all heavy trucks in Quebec will be required to be equipped with an electronic logging device (DCE).

This device will automatically record drivers’ driving and resting hours. The DCE will prove to be a very useful tool in reducing driver fatigue. The objective is to increase the safety of drivers and all road users.

This new measure will harmonize with the rules already in place in the North American trucking industry, which will promote greater competitive equity.
