The year 2025 is already ending, and “once again” it has brought us its share of challenges. The logistics industry never stops, and we must always be ready for anything… or almost anything!

I say “once again” because I can hardly recall a year without major challenges: COVID, climate change, international conflicts, the closure of the Suez Canal, water shortages in Panama… and many more.

Without a doubt, the most significant challenge of 2025 has been the imposition of new customs tariffs by the U.S. administration. These tariffs will continue to have a major impact on the North American economy in 2026. The effects are felt not only in Canada, but also in the United States, as our economies are so closely integrated on both sides of the border.

Among the challenges of running a business, human resources management is certainly one of the most demanding. Fortunately, I can say that I am privileged to be so well surrounded. My team is made up of competent, dedicated individuals who are fully committed to delivering outstanding customer service. I am grateful to count on such a strong and loyal team — loyal not only to the company, but also to one another, and especially to our clients.

2025 also marks the retirement of two valued colleagues: Mr. André Diotte and Mr. Claude Dauphinais. André has been part of the team for more than five years (August 2020), while Claude has been with us since early 2017. In both cases, we are losing not only excellent colleagues, but also true friends.

André, the journey we have shared is truly remarkable. Thank you for everything you have accomplished with us. I know we will stay in touch — and that I will still get to enjoy your famous apple pie, my friend!

Claude, we’ve known (our two families) each other for nearly 45 years, sharing both personal and professional moments. I have no doubt that this will continue in the years ahead. Thank you for your outstanding contribution to the AP Team since your arrival in 2017; you have genuinely transformed the face of our company, always to the benefit of our valued clients.

Thank you to both of you. You are now honorary members of the AP International Retirees Club!

I look forward to seeing you again very soon,

Richard
