The impact of climate change is being felt across the globe, and the Panama Canal is no exception. Faced with a severe drought, the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has announced drastic measures to conserve water. 💧
Starting from July 30, 2023, the number of ship transits will be limited to an average of 32 per day, spread between the Neopanamax and Panamax locks ⛴. This decision, which follows other restrictions already implemented by the ACP, aims to minimize the impact of the drought and prevent possible additional restrictions. 🔒
Impacts on transportation are to be expected. The ACP strongly encourages all its clients to use the transit reservation system to minimize delays. 🕗
The consequences of climate change require major adaptations. It’s time to take action, innovate, and create a more resilient and sustainable future. 🌱💪
