On May 14, 2024, the Fort McHenry Limited Access Canal in Baltimore was reopened to commercial vessel traffic after being closed due to the bridge collapse.

With a control depth of 48 feet, the canal now operates from 8 pm to 6 am under strict safety conditions.

This breakthrough is an encouraging sign for the resumption of economic activity in the region.
