Each spring, the ministère des Transports et de la mobilité durable has determined thaw periods when the loads of heavy vehicles using the Quebec road network must be reduced.
With the objective of minimizing the damage caused to the pavement which is weakened during this period, the restrictions are determined for the three thawing zones that the Quebec territory counts.
For the year 2023, here are the load restriction periods for each of the spring thaw zones
- Zone 1: Monday, March 6 (00:01) to Friday, May 5 (23:59)
- Zone 2: Monday, March 13 (12:01 a.m.) to Friday, May 12 (11:59 p.m.)
- Zone 3: Monday, March 20 (12:01 a.m.) to Friday, May 19 (11:59 p.m.)
Depending on weather conditions, the start and end dates are subject to change. We will keep you posted of any modifications.
