According to data released Feb. 6 by the Energy Information Administration, the average price of diesel in the U.S. fell 8.3 cents to $4.5539 per gallon. The average price of a gallon of gasoline also fell by 4.5 cents to $3.444 per gallon.
This decrease in the price of diesel follows several significant increases in recent months. This is good news for the transportation industry, given the direct and significant impact on carriers’ operating costs.
U.S. President Joe Biden stated at his State of the Union on February 7 that despite all the policies promoting climate change and the development of renewable energy, petroleum products will remain important and necessary for many years to come.
