Canadian Pacific Railway has reached an agreement to acquire Kansas City Southern for approximately US$31 billion as of Wednesday, September 15, 2021.

The deal also requires regulatory approval in the United States and Mexico. Canadian Pacific (CP) says the combination with U.S. rail operator Kansas City Southern will create the first single rail network linking Canada, the United States and Mexico.

Canadian Pacific hopes to complete the full acquisition of Kansas City Southern (KCS) by October or November of next year.

This is fantastic news when it comes to the rail freight industry!
